L.B.'s practice focuses on the representation of closely-held businesses and their owners, assisting entrepreneurial and family companies in connection with their individual estate, wealth transfer and business succession planning. His knowledge in the areas of gift and estate tax and succession planning has given him the base to enable his clients to transition their asset holdings through sophisticated estate and wealth transfer planning strategies and business succession plans.
Through his extensive experience in the areas of wills, trusts, succession planning for family-owned businesses and estate administration, L.B. has earned the reputation of being one of Alabama’s premier tax lawyers. In 2009, L.B. was recognized by Birmingham Magazine as one of “Birmingham’s Top Attorneys” in the areas of Tax and Trusts and Estates.

L.B. retired in 2008 after 30 years of serving as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Alabama School of Law, and has been recognized as an outstanding alumnus and contributor by both the University of Alabama School of Law and the Alabama State Bar. He has served as a speaker and chairman of the Annual University of Alabama Federal Tax Clinic, and has served as an instructor and lecturer for various professional courses and councils.
